The Power is in You! Personal Training Q&A

Get in shape for summer!

What is Personal Training?
A way to strengthen & tone your body with measurable results.

What are the benefits?
Weight loss, muscle tone, endorphins (feel good!), cardio training, assistance resolving health issues, nutritional advice, reduced risk of injury, enhanced athletic performance... basically you'll look & feel amazing!

What does a session consist of?
Depends on your goals -- may include cardio warm up  & fitness assessment, classic training (push ups, lunges, etc), stretching, core & breath work, yoga cool down.

Why do it at Infuse Yoga Spa?

We see the whole picture. Since Christy has a multi-disciplinary approach she can give you the keys to breathing and body awareness that make cardio & strength training so much more effective.

Why don't you use a lot of equipment?
The power is in you. No fancy equipment needed.

How many sessions should I do for best results?

The Yoga of Sound

Amen, sister! I had a great time in Suzanne Sterling's Friday night session (sad I had to miss the rest) and was particularly amazed at how much easier it was to breathe in a held asana when making sound out loud on the exhalation.

Looking forward to more "sound yoga" at Infuse... details coming soon!

BTW... her new album Blue Fire Soul is awesome... get it!

From Yoga Instructor, Jerry Mikutis's blog...

March 16th, 2010

This past weekend I was blessed to be in a yoga workshop with Suzanne Sterling, who is this amazing yogi that weaves in asana (movement) with sound and singing.

I was terrified taking this workshop, mainly because I’ve been hard of hearing my entire life. And in that, sound is something that I’ve never been allowed to own. When speaking, I often mispronounce words and I’ve been told not to sing or speak because it doesn’t sound “right.” I’ve always been self conscious of my voice and I’ve known for some time that I carry quite a bit of tension in my throat area, which can make my speech strained at times where I feel like I’m yelling, but the sound that comes out is barely a whisper.

Power Yoga in LA

One of my favorite things about traveling is checking out classes at other yoga studios. Sometimes they’re amazing, sometimes disappointing,
sometimes I learn something new, and sometimes I feel completely out of my element.

Aromatherapy Tips: Lavender Facelift & Thieves for Pets

Tip For a More Beautiful You—Lavender Facelift

Everyone knows that lavender is one of the most versatile essential oils. Not only does it have a beautiful aroma, but it also helps your body adapt to stress or imbalance. But did you know you can also use lavender to help beautify your skin? Try this easy skin regimen and see what changes lavender can make for you!

Before putting on any moisturizer in the morning, put a couple of drops of lavender essential oil on your fingertips and apply directly to your face in outward circling motions. Make sure to avoid the area around your eyes. Repeat daily for at least two weeks.

Here is what one Young Living lavender user had to say about following this regimen herself:

Sweaters for Your Feet

Get cold feet before/during/after yoga class? I do. Or I used to... but not anymore!

I love our new Toesox! I wasn't sure that I would. I ordered them to wear while giving Thai Massage to keep my feet warm but decided to try them during yoga class. They keep my feet warm without slipping or getting in the way. And during seated poses, legs up the wall and savasana, pure bliss!

You can get your own pair too in our boutique! $15 with grips on the bottom and $13 without.

Spa Day as Meditation Practice

Picked up a great little book at the library recently called Meditations for Living in Balance: Daily Solutions for People Who Do Too Much by Anne Wilson Schaef.

It contains a short meditation for each day of the year, but since you can only renew a library book for so many weeks, I've been opening to pages at random to read, rather than following the calendar.

Today's topic struck me because it so fits my philosophy about spa days and how they can nurture the soul and sums up one of many reasons I promote Arbonne's botanically based skin care products at Infuse.

Excerpt...

The body is a sacred garment. - Martha Graham

There are times when we simply need to care for our bodies. We need to learn to act before they are screaming for attention; we should do some routine maintenance care as we go along. It makes it possible to stay in them as we move through life, even when the going gets rough.

She then goes on to suggest an in-home spa treatment to help "let go of old, worn-out, useless parts of ourselves."

Our Intentions for 2010

by Infuse Staff & Clients...

To cook more of my meals at home using as many local & organic ingredients as possible!

Truly be present in every moment
Think positively and act positively
Trust myself

pare down physical possessions re-thinking and evaluating every potential purchase with purpose versus impulse

To truly listen to my body, mind, and spirit, respecting when rest is needed, and to not feeling guilty for taking that rest!

Holiday Wisdom Tip #6

The problem with New Year's resolutions is that they focus on what is "wrong" in your life. They assume that you are lacking something or that there is something you need to improve.

While, of course, I realize that no one is perfect and there is always room to grow and change, I think it's also important to realize what you have accomplished, who has impacted you, and who you have become in the last year.

So, my favorite New Year's tradition is to find a quiet moment in the midst of the celebrations to make a list of 108 things for which you are grateful. Assets and moments and people in your life right now that make you who you are and have brought you safely to this point. Write down everything that comes to mind and just let it flow.

Got any favorites? Please share them with us & we'll compile them into our New Year's Blog!

Holiday Wisdom Tip #5

Detox.

It's on nearly everyone's mind right about now and on the tip of the tongue. But what's it all about? And is it complicated? And do you have to fast? And is it for me?

There's many ways to help detoxify your system, from burning calories in doing sweaty exercise to eating "cleanly" to treating yourself to an in-home spa treatment.

In addition to our 6-week Detox yoga series with Christy, we've got supplements, essential oils, and more to help you meet your goals. Wanna know how? Just ask! Talk to any one of us and we'll get you on the right track.
